Review
Tales of Pig Isle by Joyce Swann recounts the adventures that Joy and Andy McAloon have when they are whisked away to Pig Isle on the back of the Pigmeister. The book portrays a good relationship between siblings that I think families will find refreshing. Joy is a loving older sister who tenderly cares for her younger brother, and Andy is a trusting preschooler who is affectionate toward his older sister. There are no squabbles or sibling rivalry between them.
Tales of Pig Isle is divided into two stories titled “A Pig Isle Adventure” and “A Pig Isle Christmas.” In the first story, “A Pig Isle Adventure,” the reader learns that Joy and Andy are able to communicate with each other by using pig grunts. They think nothing of it until one night the Pigmeister appears to them and tells them that they are some of the few children with the gift. He goes on to ask them if they would come with him to Pig Isle where their help is needed. Joy and Andy agree, and while they are there, they help the pigs and learn some valuable lessons themselves.
In the second story, “A Pig Isle Christmas,” the reader catches up with Joy and Andy about a year later. On Christmas Eve, the McAloons have a delightful family celebration. Later that night, when Joy is trying to fall asleep, she is startled by the appearance of the Pigmeister. He tells her all about the Christmas preparations he has made in Pig Isle, but he wants Joy and Andy to come help him find what is missing. On their second visit to Pig Isle, the children share the Gospel and the true meaning of Christmas.
I read Tales of Pig Isle to my five-year-old son, and he said that he liked all of it; but “A Pig Isle Christmas” was his favorite. He said that other little boys and girls would like the stories. They are very imaginative, and the values presented are worth the read. Tales from Pig Isle is available from Frontier 2000 Media Group as a paperback for $7.99 and as a Kindle e-book for $0.99.

Sounds like something I would like to get for my girls.
Sounds like a fun book. My boys delight in these types of charming tales!
Yes, my son really liked it. Several times he picked it out of a pile of other books for our story time.
